10 must-have winter products if your horse has a sensitive skin
During winter it’s hard to find products that are suitable for horses with sensitive skin or who are clipped. At Kentucky, we care about all kinds of horses and therefore made some products that are also suitable for sensitive horses. Continue reading if you want to offer your horse more comfort this winter.
The skin-friendly under rug is a must-have product for clipped horses or just if your horse has sensitive skin. The complete under rug is lined with our signature artificial rabbit skin to prevent rubbing. The lining is super soft and makes sure the rug stays in place.
This saddle pad offers nothing but comfort. Thanks to the artificial sheepskin on the inside of the saddle pad, the saddle pad is able to absorb shocks and prevents friction between the saddle and the back of the horse. The artificial sheepskin is hypoallergenic and extremely soft, so even the most sensitive backs will benefit from this saddle pad.
Originally designed to make transport more comfortable and to have a lightweight halter, but also very suitable for daily use when your horse has sensitive skin. The shipping halter is entirely made from artificial sheepskin which is very soft but also easy to maintain. When the halter is dirty, you can simply wash it at 30 degrees, without losing quality.
The body brush soft is a great brush to remove all dirt or hairs that have been loosened up. The soft bristles are perfect to use on clipped or sensitive horses yet are strong enough to remove the dirt. For your comfort, the brush is anatomically shaped.
One of our most popular products is the horse BIB. This product protects your horse from rubs caused by rugs on the chest and withers. The inside flap is lined with artificial rabbit skin, for more comfort. The normal BIB can only be used in the stable, for the field we recommend using the waterproof BIB.
Not only the sheepskin girth, but all the other girths that feature artificial sheepskin are great for horses with sensitive skin. The girths are very soft on the inside and wick away moisture. On most girths, the sheepskin is detachable with a hook and loop closure and then can be washed in the machine at 30 degrees.
Our whole range of all weather pro rugs is lined with artificial rabbit skin to avoid rubbing marks. Next to an extra isolating layer, this will also avoid that the rug slips. The pro range also offers necks with artificial rabbit skin on the inside. So the neck and manes are also protected from rubbing.
The last step in your grooming routine, and for sure the most relaxing one. Our sheepskin grooming glove is also made from artificial sheepskin and picks up the last bits of dust in your horse’s coat. During winter, this can particularly be interesting, because if there’s still some sand on your horse, this can cause rubbing marks.
The brushing boots air are entirely lined with artificial sheepskin. This is, next to soft and comfortable, cushioning and very protective. The artificial sheepskin in combination with the artificial nubuck leather are breathable, so the boots can also be used in the field. They offer great protection, even for the most sensitive horses. You also don’t need to worry about mud, because the boots are easily washed and will look brand new.
If your horse is sensitive to the bridle, the sheepskin noseband will be very helpful to you. The noseband can, thanks to the hook and loop closure, be attached on the noseband, but also on the crownpiece and reigns.
