How to take care of your Kentucky products?

Could your Kentucky products use a wash? No problem! Our products are easy to maintain and will look brand new after. Want to know how? Continue reading.

Rugs

For the rugs, the general rule is to wash them at 30 degrees, let them air-dry afterward. We recommend washing your rug every month if you use the rug daily, as sand and sweat can cause rubbing marks. Quite easy right?

If you have a turnout rug, you can do a little extra. After washing a waterproof coated rug more than 5 times, the performance of the water repellent coating is weakened. This can easily be done by adding a fluor carbon treatment to your washing machine. If you have a hurricane rug, the waterproofness of the rug is always guaranteed and doesn’t need a fluor carbon treatment. The hurricane fabric can be cleaned simply by hosing it off and letting it hang to dry.

Halters & leads

Our halters and leads can also go in the washing machine at 30 degrees. If you have an artificial leather halter, you can also use our tack cleaner to clean the leather. Some halters, like the glitter stone halter, need some extra protection. Therefore, put it in a washing bag to avoid damage. The leads are pretty easy too, the presentation lead for example can be cleaned with a wet cloth. For more detailed care information about each product, we recommend reading the care guide in the product description.

Saddle pads

A saddle pad should also be washed regularly to avoid rubbing. If some hairs are sticking into the lining, try to get some of them with a brush. Then place it in the washing machine at 30 degrees. Let it hang to dry. Do not use the saddle pad before it’s completely dry. If the saddle pad has some pearl details, we recommend using a washing bag.

Fly veils and masks

Our fly veils are hand-knitted yet washer-friendly (always use a washing bag). However, we do recommend washing the fly veils by hand to avoid damage. The fly masks can also be washed in the washing machine, but don’t forget to close the zipper.

Half pads

A half pad does not need a lot of care. If they are a bit dusty, you can remove this with a wet cloth. You can also wash the half pad at 30 degrees in the washing machine. If you can take out the memory foam of your half pad, for example with the half pad intelligent, we suggest you do this.

Leg protection

Our bandages are made from an anti-pilling fleece that can be washed at 30 degrees. Before putting the bandages in the washing machine, make sure to close the hook and loop closures and put them in a washing bag. The same process goes for the eventing boots, brushing boots, and overreach boots.

For our TPU or PU front and hind boots, you can use the boots cleaner. Simply spray the product on dry and dirty boots and clean it with a dry towel. Your boots will shine like new. For the other boots or to clean the inside of the PU boots, the boots can be washed at 30 degrees.

Therapeutic products

Our complete Recuptex range is designed to be machine washable (30 degrees). The products can be washed repeatedly without losing their performance. If you have more questions about our Recuptex technology, we advise you to read this blog post.

Girths

Girths with artificial leather can be cleaned with the tack cleaner. If the girth features an artificial sheepskin liner, you can take it off thanks to the hook and loop closure. The artificial sheepskin can be washed at 30 degrees in the washing machine and stays soft. If the girth is made from another material, it’s also washable at 30 degrees.

Transport and stable

Our transport and stable range is made for your comfort. Therefore, most products can be cleaned by hosing them off or washing them at 30 degrees. For the horse toys, we advise you to wash them by hand.
